Oklahoma & Twisters

Isn't it on everyones bucket list to chase tornadoes?! OK, maybe not but it's definitely been on mine. Being able to experience such an adventure didn't satisfy my curiosity but only gave me a little taste of something that keeps me wanting more. I have a friend who knows a friend....and that's how it all got started.

Two things come to mind when I think of this southern mid-western state never having been there before. The infamous Oklahoma Bombing and the musical we saw on Broadway in NYC. Just sayin.

So I head down to Oklahoma to "kill two birds with one stone". The other "bird" is another blog for another time.

Over the week in Okie, I went chasing 3 times. Each time I learned a little more and was never disappointed. I love how every time we went out Jeff would down play the situation but in the end we always saw something amazing or at least I did. With storms, I've learned you never know how they are going to actually play out and things can change at the very last minute.

We started off in Oklahoma City for the anniversary of the bombing. We didn't realize it before hand that there was a ceremony going on but we were glad to have been able to experience part of it. Seeing the families related to this tragedy and all the memorials was heart wrenching to say the least and we started off our first chase on a very sober note. But I'm happy to report the end of our chases resulted in some very exciting weather action! Thanks so much to Jeff Bartlett for being such a gracious host and being so open to sharing what he knows.
